Give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways. The great Hebrew King, Solomon, is said (in 1 Kings Ch. 4, v.32) to have been inspired by God to utter three thousand wise sayings (“proverbs”). The book of Proverbs was for the most part derived from Solomon’s teachings (with contributions by others such as Hezekiah, Agur, and Lemuel). The above passage seems direct and incontrovertible. With our Ingathering Luncheon imminent, the lyrics of this video gives us food for thought. How do we “give our hearts”? The act of “Giving” seems to encompass our time, talents, and money: it should be prayerfully contemplated; it should be private; it should represent a return…not a distribution…to God and His Kingdom out of our abundance.
